This waterfront Buenos Aires home is almost monolithic in design. Its cool black exterior provides little evidence of the white, open, watery space inside– a shell protecting the privacy and sanctity of its inhabitants. As such, the Casa Negra by Andres Remy Arquitectos may be black and unforgiving from the street, but its water-facing exterior and bright interior are where this house’s heart is. The Casa Negra features a panoramic view of lakeside living in Buenos Aires– floor-to-ceiling windows span the width of the house, while an upper, glass-enclosed section provides a weather-proofed vantage point. In the center of the home, a reflection pool adds an ethereal quality to the interior, as the white walls and paned glass are multiplied on its surface. While Casa Negra may have opted for open spaces over warm comfort, this open-air home is an excellent way of experiencing the temperate Argentinian summers.
